Image
Did you, like me, fall in love with Dan Browns books about Robert Langdon and his pursuit for truth and discovering of the religious aspects in the Da Vinci Code and later Angels and Demons then check out my Christmas Special for a half marathon around the city of Rome in the hunt for cardinal’s sacrificing places from the book. I don’t know if you have a Robert Langdon in your life to take you on this trip and tell you all the fascinating facts about Christianity, religion, Illuminati, the Vatican and all the conspiracies surrounding topics but if not, bring Angels and Demons in paper-bag and head to Rome. If you, like me, want to get the real vibe and experience of Roma, there is only one way to get around, walking…put on some comfortable shoes with good support and start walking. It is a lovely walk. Dazzling Rome is a vibrant, pulsating city and if you go in the peak season you will have to fight your way through millions of tourists to get to some of these marks. The firs...

Which Western European country to pick?

Image
Are you sitting at home in desperate need of a vacation? but no idea where you want to go? Fear not. I will walk you through 5 different European countries and why each of them is worth a visit. Not just because of their capitals, which is where most of us end up going when we do a quick get away from home for a long weekend… But because of what it has to offer its tourists. France France is a magnificent country of fables and history.  France is famous for their luxurious tasty cuisine and delicious wine that has inspired many to gasp in satisfaction. Monet spent a lifetime perfecting impressionism in the Gardens of Givenchy, and they are still beautiful and when you visit you want to do as Monet and just take in all the exquisite beauty nature offers. It ...

Roman Holiday - 3 Day Tour of Rome, Italy

Image
Most of us, like Audrey Hepburn in 1953, want to explore Rome. She fakes an illness to get  the chance to discover this city and get her Roman Holiday. Would you like one too? Just take one of the many means of transportation and head this way. Because as it was once said: all roads lead to Rome. Rome is a pulsating, vibrant and beautiful city. A perfect combination of the old and the new. It is one of those cities you can’t visit too much. If you are one of those millions who has read Dan Browns Angels and Demons you will already have a rough map of the city according to the death of the different cardinals. If you are into a more relaxing and enjoyable ride, however, join me. I’ve been to Rome a few times and every time I go I want more. More coffee, more cake, ice-cream, pizza, more beauty, architecture more of it all. If it is your first trip to Rome however, here is a list of what I recommend during your visit.   Colosseum, Rome, from the viewpoint. A Thr...

Venice, Italy - See Venice and Fall in Love

Image
“Venice would be a fine city if it were drained” - The Education of Henry Adams. But of course, we all disagree. Venice is a charming city filled with water and soul. The facades of the houses facing the canals tell us stories about things that once were and the small boats and gondolas moving up and down the canal makes us all immediately fall in love with the quaint and cozy city. When I first arrived in San Marco Square a street orchestra was playing Andrea Bocelli Con Te Partiro, and from that moment my heart belonged to Venice. Venice, these boots are made for walking, and that’s just what they will do. Venice is the only pedestrian city in Europe. You can walk everywhere. You might have to spend time searching for the right bridge, but everywhere is accessible with the right choice of shoes. When you first enter the city you might hate this, because you have to carry your luggage to your destination from the bus or taxi stop or wherever you are dropped. Did you think you ...
