Did you ever just want to escape your life to a secluded island in the middle of nowhere? Lie on white beaches, swim in crystal clear waters, sip cocoa while lying in a hammock and not have a single wonder for that very moment other than whether to move a bit further into the shade....? 1. Koh Rong Sanloem This is a beautiful little chill and a relaxing island around an hour boat ride from the mainland where you can chill all-day and chill all night. Take the speedboat and get off at M’Pai Bay. Pick a hostel in the first row for waves lullabying you to sleep at night, or 2nd or 3rd row for a bit cheaper and quieter nights. Nighttime is good for enjoying a bonfire, the Milky Way, and the amazing experience of the glowing planktons in the water - which actually make the stars appear 3D - 360 degrees around you. In the daytime you can relax on the beach, snorkel the sea, or go trekking in the jungle - remember to get a guide because without a machete you won't ge...

4 Top Attractions in Asia

Image
Planning a trip to Asia and just wondering where to go? I've done the same thing many many times. That's why I have made a short list of some of my favorite attractions around Asia just for you to pick from. Here are my favorite Asian Attractions 1. Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia The main reason for visiting is, of course, Angkor Wat.  A lot of us have a childhood longing for an Indiana Jones adventure and to maybe fall upon a hidden treasure. There are different means of transportation to get there and around, depending on your needs and sense of adventure. You can take a tuk-tuk for the day. They have fixed day-rates and you either do the big or small circuit trip. The small trip includes Angkor Wat, Bayan and 4 other temples, including the Tombraider temple. Meanwhile, the big trip takes you to a lot of smaller temples that are less crowded.  You can also rent a bicycle and enjoy the trip at your own pace. It might be a good idea to get a tour guide if you ...

Do you want to have my baby?

Image
I’ve often been asked by friends, family and sometimes strangers why I do not have children. Whether or not I want them and what might be the matter with me since I haven’t settled down already. Clearly, there must be something wrong with me because I do not have that house, those 2.1 children, the man and the little white fence. I’ve rarely had an answer to that question. What do you really answer when someone, often someone you barely know asks:” why don’t you have any children?” They phrase it like it is the most normal question in the world, and somehow they all feel entitled to ask me this very question. I’ve often thought of what I should answer. Why don’t I have any children? Because I wasn’t ready, I haven’t found the right guy, I can’t have children, I had different dreams to for fill, I am happy the way I am… The answers are many, sometimes I even want to throw the question back into their faces. Like: Why do you have children? Why did you always dream of settling ...

How to spend a month in the Kingdom of Cambodia

Image
My idea of how to have a great and not too busy schedule when visiting and exploring Cambodia. 1. Phnom Penh Encounter the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia Phnom Penh. The people are kind, friendly, and will always give you a smile and a helping hand. Phnom Penh has a distinctive friendly and mellow vibe. You can even go around on foot without fearing for your life. Best area to stay Daun Penh: Whether you are on a budget or like comfort Daun Penh is a great location.  The hostels offer accommodation in dorms from 3$, private rooms for around 10$ a night. Where to Go Choeung ek Genocidal center , also known as the killing fields of The Pol Pot regime. It is a dreadful tour in the fields containing mass graves and slaughter places where the regime killed 20.000 of their own people. When you go, do yourself the favor of getting the audio tour. It provides a lot of information and it gives you the opportunity of not talking with your fellow travelers while seeing the...
