Tanzania, Lake Manyara: Africa in all shapes and colours

Image
Africa gets under your skin. It is so different and utterly beautiful and once you have been once you will never seize longing for this continent so different from the rest of the world. There are a million reasons why I love Africa. I shall spare you the 99 others but Lake Manyara is definitely one of them. This is the last park in Tanzania I will take you through on a short visit. Lake Manyara is set against the steep escarpment of the Rift Valley. This beautiful area consists of evergreen groundwater forests and a variety of ecosystems including acacia woodland, grassy plains, a swampy fan delta, and the gigantic lake. Because it holds such a huge diversity, it attracts a wide variety of animals. Birds in all shapes and colors I was very amazed by the number of birds. Millions of flamingos chill on the water of Lake Manyara. My personal favorite was the flamingo. Both the bigger and the lesser flamingos (yes that is their names) are found here in thousands. These pink w...

Tanzania, Ngorongoro Crater, Encounter The Big Five Up-Close

Image
Exploring Africa is a dream many people hold. Either they have seen amazing footage on BBC or natural geographic. They hold a romantic Disney-view of what the savanna has to offer in term of Lion Rock and dancing animals. They might have read one of Ernst Hemingway’s short stories about the green hills of Africa or another literary depiction of this magnificent continent. Regardless of the motivation visiting Africa is an amazing idea. It gives you exotic animals, extraordinary scenery, and memories for a lifetime. Today I will take you with me to visit the Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania. It is far from the biggest park in Africa and doesn’t give you the same vast never-ending landscape and Serengeti, but I will tell you why this park is definitely worth a visit on your trip through Tanzania and Africa. Ngorongoro Crater The Ngorongoro Crater is filled with spectacular scenery and game viewing. It is a small park, naturally enclosed by the crater’s high walls. The crater is 6...

Tanzania, Serengeti, the King of National Parks - Here will be Lions

Image
Vast landscape as far as the eye can see. Beautiful unspoiled nature and great, majestic and terrifying animals, this is just some of the amazing things Tanzania has to offer. The animals are marvelous and like watching Lion King in real life. You can get up-close and see wildebeests, giraffe, elephants or even lions in their native habitat. But the Savanna has so much more to offer... Explore the vast never-ending beautiful piece of eternity. Over the next three days, I will give you three examples of where to safari in Tanzania all you have to do is book your trip and get on your way.   Serengeti, Tanzania Adventure into the king of Africa’s national parks: the Serengeti National Park. The word “Serengeti” is derived from the Maasai language, meaning “endless plain”. Be amazed by its enormous size. As said properly in the Lion King: “Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom.Young Simba: Whoa…!” Its kingdom is far greater than what we can see with ...

Kalbarri National Park, Western Australia

Image
Spectacular, spectacular… Travel into the wild, wild west of Australia and be blown away by the wild wonders and the rough beauty of Western Australia. The Kalbarri National Park is filled with opportunities and is one of the most exciting and beautiful National Park. A park that needs to be experienced for yourself. The Murchison River. Kalbarri is an amazing national park hidden in Western Australia around 8 hours north of Perth, depending on the route you take. The absolute best way to get here is by car. It gives you the freedom of stopping along the way up the coast, and the opportunities of exploring the less touristy parts of the park, and at your own pace. While you drive in the park keep an eye out for the inhabitants of the park. They have a tendency of not respecting stop-signs and can often be found at the side of the road. Every time I see a roadkill I become immensely sad that we do this to live, even if it is not on purpose. While we were driving around Kalbarri ...

Langkawi, Malaysia: A weekend getaway

Image
If you are looking to spend a few days in a Malaysian Island paradise Langkawi isn’t a poor choice. Langkawi is made up of 99 small islands on Malaysia’s west coast. There is something to entertain everyone there. Langkawi is known for its diving, duty-free shopping, and island hopping between the small and untouched islands surrounding the main island. That being said there is much to do in a weekend getaway to this little gem.   View from Nest rooftop-bar, Cenang Explore the sea: Dive-site #1 The most famous spot for diving around Langkawi is the Pulau Payar Marine Park. Located around an hour ferry ride south of Langkawi leaving the Kuah Jetty. I did two dives here. The main attraction is the Coral Garden. This dive-site is a shallow site with the coral-reef at around 10 meters depth. But don’t feel cheated. The rocks are covered with beautiful soft corals in clear white, blue and purple colors. You will also encounter plenty of the branching tree corals, anemones hid...
